CPAF has been doing great job in managing crisis situations and assisting survivors of DV/SA as well as formulating changes in the community. It provides multi-linguistic, culturally supportive services for ethnical minority women and men. It is also currently the only shelter for rape survivors in LA.
I was able to meet the staff at CPAF and tour the women's shelter. What makes this center special is that it's mission is to serve the special needs of the Asian Pacific Family. The staff understands the different cultures, i.e. the culture and sensibilities in the Chinese community can be greatly different that those in the Samoan community.
The shelter also is designed to make the diverse Asian Pacific families more comfortable, mostly that manifests in the meals cooked. Clients can even request food and condiments like kim chee.
