Background
One in four Americans experience mental illness in any given year - approximately 57.7 million people. Whether it's general anxiety, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder, mental illness is not easy to live with.
When treated, a mental illness can be easy to cope with. But finding the correct treatment can be especially challenging for a low-income family.
Four of the top ten disabilities are considered to be mental illnesses, and depression is supposed to be the number one disability by 2020. Help prevent a rise in mental illness by volunteering at a mental health nonprofit near you.
