Mission: Benefits Data Trust is a not-for-profit organization committed to transforming how individuals in need access public benefits. To meet this mission, Benefits Data Trust: (1) partners with diverse stakeholders to implement cost-effective and scalable outreach and enrollment strategies; (2) takes the time to inform and support individuals through a simplified application process; and (3) delivers data- and technology-driven solutions to create a more coordinated benefits access system.
Results: Number of benefit applications submitted since 2005: 336,717. Estimated amount value of benefits amounts since 2005: $957,151,104.
Target demographics: Low-income populations who need assistance applying for benefits.
Geographic areas served: We conduct state-wide outreach to residents of Pennsylvania and Maryland as well as the King County area of Washington state.
Programs: The BDT model seeks to improve the efficiency of benefits enrollment for low-income people by using data-driven strategies and a person-centered approach to target and streamline the outreach and application assistance process. The model relies on six major program components. Below, please see a description of the six program components and the proposed action steps BDT takes in order to implement a successful outreach and enrollment program.
